Graduation & Retention

At CMSM, we value the opportunity to offer high quality massage education to students of widely varied ages and backgrounds - professional, educational, and cultural. When practicing massage, students work in pairs, giving and receiving the work of the day. In the massage classes, instructors offer active mentoring during student practice. Students remain in their groups throughout their time at CMSM, providing consistency and the opportunity to develop close working relationships that frequently endure long past school. Students also have the opportunity to work one-to-one with an instructor during the program.

In all classes, emphasis is placed on the value of individual needs within the learning process. Meaningful student-teacher contact is essential to learning at CMSM; our low student-teacher ratios (16:1 lab 30:1 lecture) facilitates personal attention and intentional presence in the classroom.

In addition, and central to our educational philosophy at CMSM is the idea that each person learns visually, auditorily, and kinesthetically with varying degrees of immediacy. Therefore, the curriculum is presented in all three modes, with inventive activities incorporated into each class. Students are encouraged to notice how they learn best and to work with the resources of the school to maximize their learning experience.

The effective pedagogical practices described above promote the wellbeing of students, teachers and the school community, even as they improve student and teacher confidence and retention.

Below are our retention / graduation rates for all program starts within the time period of June 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019 at our Frederick Campus.

Frederick Campus

Had a completion rate of 73.53%. Programs included in this rate are Jun, Jul, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, 2018 AM/PM Full-Time, Jun, Jul, Aug 2018 Weekend. Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May 2019 Full Time Day, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May 2019 AM/PM Part-Time , and Jan, Feb, Apr 2019 Weekend.

The transfer rate for this time period for both the Frederick campus was < 2.5%. The next report will be issued for program starts that fall within the following time period: June 1, 2019 - May 31, 2020
